President Dr. Arif Alvi is presiding over a meeting on Corna Virus and Ehsas Program at Governor House. Governor, Chief Minister, Federal and Provincial Ministers are also present.
President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that the entire nation is fighting unitedly to control the outbreak of Corona virus. The federal and provincial governments are taking comprehensive and coordinated measures to address the plight of the poor under the Ehsas Kifalat program, along with the Corona virus. He said that the overall situation in Balochistan was satisfactory. He appreciated the services of the provincial government in the treatment of corona virus patients, screening of persons entering from Taftan and Pak-Afghan border Chaman and quarantine facilities. He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting on the occasion of his visit to Quetta. The meeting was attended by Governor Balochistan Justice (retd) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Home Affairs Brigadier (retd) Ijaz Shah, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal, Provincial Ministers Mir Zahoor Baledi, Engineer Zamrak Achakzai, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Wasim Ashraf and other officials attended. During the meeting, Chief Secretary Balochistan Captain (retd) Fazil Asghar gave a briefing to President Arif Alvi on Corona virus. Expressing satisfaction over the steps taken by the Balochistan government to control the corona virus, President Arif Alvi said that the federal and provincial governments were working against the epidemic under a coordinated strategy with the cooperation of the people. The President said that the elected representatives should play a key role in monitoring the ongoing relief activities for the poor people as well as in raising awareness. The President urged the elected representatives of the National and Provincial Assemblies and all religious scholars to support the government in this difficult time. He said the government was fighting the corona virus as well as poverty. The President said that in this extraordinary situation of Corona virus, the educational need can be met by using television and FM radio to continue the educational process. We also learned a lot from this corona virus outbreak and it became clear that food crisis can be avoided by becoming self-sufficient in food and agricultural production. He said that the plight of the poor during the lockdown was well known and the closure of shopping malls had affected the working and business classes. He expressed the hope that soon the corona virus would be defeated and normalcy would be restored. Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal informed the meeting that NDMA is in full touch with the provincial government and is providing supplies as per the requirements and will also provide more supplies as per the demand of the provincial government.
